‘Just go for it!’ Meet Lauren, who jumped out of a plane for bibic Sep 2 2016 - 3:28pm

What better way to finish off your summer than to skydive whilst raising money for charity?

Lauren signed up to do a skydive nearly a year ago, and we have watched her go on to smash her fundraising target having now raised nearly £500.00. After spending last summer supporting children with autism Lauren wanted to do more to help so decided to challenge herself and raise money for bibic.

Find out why Lauren wanted to help children with disabilities and how her skydive went…

BIG Thank You Party was a BIG success Sep 2 2016 - 2:50pm

bibic had huge fun last week at their first Big Local Thank You Party for the local community.

The sunny Wednesday afternoon at Old Kelways had stalls, a bouncy castle, family entertainment, tasty food and plenty of fun and games for families from the local community to come and enjoy with proceeds going to bibic. Professor Paradox entertained the children with his badly behaved walking stick before the North Curry Ukes performed a few covers of some classics by John Denver and Bob Dylan, and even Barry the bibic bear made an appearance to give out some hugs.

bibic through a parent’s eyes Jul 21 2016 - 11:05am

We see lots of families come through bibic’s doors every week. It’s always brilliant to find out how they are getting on since their visit, and to find out what it is like to visit bibic through a parent’s eyes. A Mum from London, who recently came with her son, writes about their visit:

At first I was scared. Going to a place like bibic meant I had to accept we were struggling. I had to accept that "my way" might not be the "best way", because if it was I wouldn't be struggling...

Ross Jun 29 2016 - 10:23am

Ross’ Story

Ross was a very quiet baby.  He would play alongside other children not with them.  It broke my heart as I knew he wanted to join in.  Initially we thought it was just down to a delay in his speech and language, as he was referred to the service at the age of two.

Louis Jun 29 2016 - 10:23am

Louis’ Story

The day after Louis was born we witnessed him having a hypoglycemic seizure, we felt helpless and frightened.  He was rushed to hospital and treated for an infection and given an MRI. It was not good news. It came back abnormal, to what extent, they couldn't tell us.

Amelia Jun 29 2016 - 10:23am

Amelia’s Story

Our lovely Amelia is now 11 years old. She has Dyspraxia and Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. She wasn't fully understood in primary school, so we visited bibic in the summer holidays. We wanted someone to assess all of Amelia's needs in order to gain more understanding for us and for school.

Fun at the Royal Bath & West 2016! Jun 10 2016 - 7:06pm

The bibic fundraising team have just come back from a very exciting four days at the Bath and West Show 2016.

It was really enjoyable meeting lots of new people, telling them all about the children we support. We also heard from families about children that have visited bibic in the past and are now achieving brilliant things, as well as speaking to families we could help in the future.

Stroke Awareness Month 2016 - Grace's Story May 18 2016 - 2:21pm

When Grace was only 2 ½ years old she had a stroke.

Grace had a severe case of chicken pox at 6 months old, and from then on she had illness after illness, not going more than 2 weeks without a cold, sickness bug or a temperature. After 2 years of problems Polly, Grace’s Mum, finally got a Paediatrician appointment.

Two days before the appointment Grace’s face dropped whilst in the bath and she was rushed to hospital where Polly was told she had suffered a stroke. The doctors also found evidence of brain damage from a previous stroke that Grace had at 6 months old.

Group abseils 200ft to raise vital funds May 18 2016 - 1:51pm

On Saturday 7th May a group of wonderful supporters abseiled 200ft down the side of Uphill Quarry near Weston Super Mare to raise vital funds for bibic.

The sun came out to help the team of 15, who all managed to face their fears and successfully complete the abseil. The leaders of the challenge, organised by Taunton based Adventure Café, managed to reassure and encourage all of the team to the bottom. The day was also supported by friends and family of the group who cheered and supported each descent.

Please vote for bibic! Apr 29 2016 - 7:37pm

We are really pleased to announce that bibic has been nominated to D-I-Yeovil to win an amazing renovation prize worth £10,000.

We need your votes to help us to secure this brilliant £10,000 renovation, to transform the reception area of the bibic assessment centre.

This is the first place that children and families visiting bibic see and it is a dull boring office space which is not reassuring for the families or children.
