Youth Ambassador

Introduction

Join bibic as a Youth Ambassador (YA) and be at the forefront of our mission to support children and young adults with neurological, behavioural and developmental challenges.
We are seeking passionate individuals aged between 18 to 26 years to serve as YAs and enhance our advisory capacity by providing invaluable perspectives and insights.

About bibic

bibic is a national charity dedicated to helping children and young adults aged 6 months to 25 years old reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives. We offer assessments, bespoke developmental therapy, and training to parents and professionals, catering to a wide range of conditions including autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, and more.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a YA, your focus will be on supporting fundraising and marketing efforts to engage the 18 to 26-year-old audience. This includes providing input on marketing strategies, sharing fundraising initiatives, and representing bibic at events. You will not be expected to engage in trustee responsibilities such as grievance, safeguarding, or finance.
You are not expected to represent bibic’s children and families, rather your experience as a young person bringing a much-needed diversity of perspective.

Support

Each YA will receive mentoring support, including quarterly meetings with the CEO and Chair before board sessions and monthly check-ins with your Trustee mentor. Training and guidance will be provided to ensure you excel in your role.

bibic is here to support you and develop your skills during your time with us.

Expectations (time/commitment – Approximates)

  • 6 hours preparing and attending pre-board meetings (3 times per year)
  • 6 hours preparing, attending board meetings, and follow-up (3 times per year)
  • 7.5 hours attending the AGM
  • Approximately 15 hours for training and mentoring
  • 7.5 hours for the bibic ball
  • Total time commitment per year: 42 hours/ 5.6 days
  • A years commitment to the role

Please note that you will not be remunerated for this role, however when attending the AGM, bibic will cover travel and food & beverage expenses which need to be pre agreed.

Criteria for applying

  • Age between 18 to 26 years
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Eagerness to learn with training provided
  • Active engagement on social media platforms
  • Personal experience or connection with bibic’s services preferred.
  • Access to a laptop, internet, and Zoom

Location details

All meetings will be conducted remotely via Zoom, except for the annual AGM held close to the charity’s offices in Somerset.
Please note: This role will be subject to a DBS check and the receipt of two references.
